Akmentins to oversee and manage firm research
RICHMOND, VA (September 13, 2011) – Cary Street Partners, a Southeastern-based investment banking and wealth management firm, today announced William “Bill” Akmentins has joined the firm’s headquarters office in Richmond, Virginia as its Director of Research. Cary Street Partner’s Research Department focuses on investment manager due diligence and selection for client equities, fixed income and alternative investments.

Prior to joining Cary Street Partners, Bill was the Director of Public Investments at Southern Methodist University (SMU) where he managed the university’s $1.2 billion endowment. Before his 6-year tenure at SMU, Bill was a Senior Portfolio Manager at U.S. Trust Company, N.A., in Charlotte, North Carolina. At U.S. Trust he managed $300 million in client portfolios for foundations and endowments. He also served the investment needs of many high net worth families. Bill began his professional investment career as an Investment Research Analyst for The Duke Endowment, one of the nation’s largest 501(c)(3) private foundations, with assets of $2.7 billion.
Bill earned his Bachelor of Science in Political Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and has a Masters of Business Administration from the University of North Carolina, Kenan-Flagler School of Business. He is also a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA).
