To Ian, planning is the cornerstone of any investment recommendation and starts with a candid conversation about the client’s goals and objectives. Through analysis and collaboration amongst the advisory team as well as clients’ other trusted advisors (CPA and attorney), he presents recommendations that align with the clients’ tolerance for risk and their time horizon. He regularly monitors and reviews clients’ progress towards goals, not to an arbitrary index.

Ian believes that investing in clients means getting to develop a relationship with kids, grandkids and causes that are important for clients. He is also involved and deeply committed to his community by donating time, expertise and treasures to his charities of choice.

His community involvement includes: Norfolk Academy Board of Trustees, YMCA of Southampton Roads Board Chair, Hermitage Foundations Board Member, Hermitage Foundation Gardens and Grounds Board Member, Ghent Business Association Board Member.
